ABOUT ME
After graduating with my BA from Middlebury College in Political Science and Spanish I earned my MSW from NYU. I worked in the mental health field in a variety of settings prior to starting my own practice, including with the New York City Police Department, Director of the Senior Center at the Central Queens YM & YWHA in Queens, NY, and at Georgetown University Hospital in DC. These experiences allowed me to work with many different clientele, and I gained expertise in helping clients to better articulate and understand their own narratives, plan for major life transitions, experience grief, loss, and the trauma of war, and assisting individuals and families to navigate chronic illness.
Specialized Expertise
In addition to my clinical work I have post-graduate training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Trauma-Informed Clinical Practice, a certificate in Business Administration from Georgetown University, and Transtheoretical Family and Couples work from Therapy Training Boston. Right now, I am loving working in private practice, helping people become happier, healthier, understand more of who they are and what they want, communicate more effectively, and live more in the present.
Family and Couples
I started specializing in family and couples work because the older I become, and the more experiences I have with life, motherhood, and family, the more I understand the value of the connections between us and the possibility that they erode. I also understand the challenge of maintaining relationships over time, and how hard it can be to let go of assumptions around loved ones. I believe that I have a gift for helping people to maintain and strengthen those relationships.
Corporate Opportunities
I offer clinical services to companies looking to improve individual and corporate mental health. Examples may include one-time sessions for a specific need (i.e., part of a corporate retreat, introduction to mindfulness, exploring coping skills for stress, focus group to assess corporate emotional well-being) or monthly groups that provide a regular forum for employees to access mental health services. Please contact me for availability and pricing.
When not working as a therapist, I enjoy spending time with my family, attending concerts and comedy shows, hiking, skiing, exploring the outdoors summer and winter, and have practiced and taught Pilates for many years. I look forward to working with you!
